Mrs. Charlie Bayley leaves to-day to spend a holiday with friends in Mastertoil. fl a fl fl Miss Betty Ryan spent a few days with friends in Wanganui last week, returning home early this week. The Egmont Racing Club was unfortunate with its summer meeting inasmuch as the weather was concerned, both days receiving more than a failshare of rain. Taking everything into consideration there was a good attendance on both days, though not so many visitors as usual. Among those present were Mrs. J. Gray, Mrs. R. F. John Rogers, “Riverside,” Otakcho, entertained a number of friends at a gift tea in honour of Miss Phyllis Syme, who is shortly to be married. Airs. Rogers received her guests attired in a pretty floral art silk frock. The guest of the afternoon wore a smart jumper suit of forest green milancse, with model cloche hat of matching felt and metal gold. The competition played during the afternoon was won by Miss Syme. Mr. and Mrs. Antoni Bonetti entertained their pupils at a Christmas tree on the lawn at their home in Argyle Street when there were present some 3o to 40 children. Each one received a gift, Mis. Bonetti distributing the various articles. High glee reigned for a. couple dt hours for the children, and their delighted faces were a pleasure to see. lhe Christmas tree was given to the children as the results of the proceeds of the concert recently given by Mr. and Mrs. Bonetti, they generously believing that the results obtained were due only to the children’s, splendid efforts, which deserved reward. tea and dainties were served. Miss Zara Alorris, on behalf of the pupils, presented Mrs. Bonetti with 'a gift as a token of their appreciation. Alaster V.
