BROTHERS AT VARIANCE
OFFENSIVE LETTERS SENT.
LEGAL PROTECTION GIVEN.

Two very well known brothers, Campbell and Hallyburton Johnstone, were principals in the Police Court to-day, when Campbell Johnstone proceeded against his brother and asked the magistrate to order - him to find sureties to keep the peace. ;■* " The complainant .alleged that his brother had within the past six months at Avondale exhibited offensive writings on the envelopes of letters addressed to him care of various local bodies of which he was a member. The envelopes were addressed to him . as follows :r—“Campbell Johnstone, the man who pleads the Statute of Limits- > tions, c/o Auckland Harbour Board, c/o Raglan County Council and c/o WaikatoHospital Board. The complainant declared that such conduct on the defendant’s part was likely to cause further annoyance and perhaps a breach of the peace as Campbell Johnstone is actually a member of the local bodies referred to.
• Counsel for Hallyburton Johnstone stated that his client would undertake to stop such writings in future, and the magistrate then bound defendant over in the
sum of’£lo to ensure no further annoying letters would be addressed to his brother.
