EGMONT RACING CLUB MEETING

ANNOUNCEMENT OF WEIGHTS.

By Telegraph.—Press Association.

Wellington, Last Night. Weights for the Egmont Racing Club’s summer meeting have been declared as follow: —

TURF TOPICS.

(By “Moturoa.”)

Mys-teril * « # '* Feilding was a jubilee meeting. # # # « Always second-to-one; Nassau Lady. # « « Feilding caught the crowd on Saturday and Monday. •» fl * The Raider had a good haul at Feilding. * 9 * « Rabbi was one of the “chosen” on Saturday. • 9 ® # The Raider held too many guns for the sprinters at Feilding. # « ..,. The Limond-Cymene gelding Cylinder went well in patches and was sparking well at the end of the Novice Stakes. • o * * The mis-pronunciation of “Chopin’ 1 at Feilding made one wonder if it were not an axeman’s carnival. 4? ’« 4» * The starting times at Taumarunui to-day are: —First race 1'1.56 a.m., 12.30 p.m., 1.25 p.m., 2.16 p.m., 3.5 p.m., 3.45 p.m., 4.30 p.m. and 5.15 p.m. # # # # Paitonu ranks as one of the good mid-dle-distance performers in Taranaki. He has had one race this season and then ran Black Duke to a head over a mile at Wellington. It was a promising “first-up” effort and the son of Bisogne has only to go on the right way to pick up the thick end of some stake shortly. * * * # The divisions in the Matapuna Handicap are: —(First: Partial Eclipse, Awamutu, Abbess, Flapperette, Abbey Queen, Measurer, Norval Tea, Lady Eus-' tace, Princess Snow, Te Kamonga and Perennis. Second division: White Ringlet, Pellette, Joy Germ, Antique, Snow Prince, Dainty Manners, Pure Tea, Vai Simon, Kiritahanga and Luxurious. » * * # Kaihoro paid two dividends at Feilding and there was a lot of merit attached to both efforts. She won .some good races last season and 'her early return to form is pleasiing to those who know how good she is. The holiday meetings will probably find her racing around Manawatu, and she should pay her way there.

If the Trial Plate at Taumarunui is divided to-day Antique, Day Lass, Derry Belle, Measurer, Nassau Lady, Parfait Amour, Rangitown, Searcher, St. Warrigal, Te Kamonga and Valquette will start in the first division. Thbse in the second division will be Biddy Comet, Dainty Manners, Lady Eustace, Norval Tea, Princess Snow, Rose Willonyx, Section, Star Lupin, Town Fancy and Vai Simon.

Bright Glow was a last-minute fancy for the Feilding Cup and ran a good race. Fourth was tho best she could Monday, and that effort was

rather a disappointment. However, she is a rattling good galloper and should be. tremendously improved by her two races. She is in at the Hawera meeting, and many will be surprised if she does not go well at the holiday meetings.

In the five furlongs race at Tauinarunui to-day is a three-year-old filly by Tea Tray from Duchess Eudorus which races in Mr. C. M. Emanuel’s colours under the name of Pure Tea. The filly lias started only once in New Zealand for a “miss” this season, but last autumn she raced in Australia and won the Nursery Handicap at Canterbury Park from Roseflight and Traymobile. Prior to that she ran third to Phar Lap and second to Sheila. On the minimum in the Matapuna Handicap she should go well if she can strike her best form.
