WHAT WILL CHIDE DO?
SPORTING WRITERS DIFFER. AUSTRALIA OR AUCKLAND CUP? The Christchurch Times on Tuesday morning informed the world that an interview with Owner G. MurrayAynsley yielded an assertion that Chide was booked for an onslaught on the rich autumn stakes in Sydney, and perhaps fantastically put a price on the New Zealand Cup winner’s head in excess of £lO,OOO. The evening saw a flat denial in the Christchurch Sum The sporting scribe in that paper pended the following;— A published report to-day stated that there wa sa possibility of Chide going to Australia for the autumn but this is denied by the horse’s owner. "Racing Chide in Australia has never entered my head,” said Mr. Aynsley, "and as for saying that' I would '•not' part with the horse for £lO,OOO, that is rubbish.” “No doubt the richly-endowed races in the Commonwealth make an appeal to many Dominion owners, but I have no intention whatever of taking Chide to Australia. ' “Present intentions are to send him to Ellerslie next month for the Auckland Cup meeting, but everything depends upon how he is treated in the weights.” . ■ Mr. Aynsley is an immensely proud man as a result of Chide’s triple victory last week, and ho thoroughly appreciated the wonderful reception the Riccarton idol was accorded. “Chide is such an outstanding figure on the Turf at present that already many sporting men are debating the respective merits of the Paladin gelding and doughty Nightmarch, who scored a brilliant victory in the £lO,OOO Melbourne Cup. Unfortunately, they will not meet at Auckland. The Swell and Ridgemount left by motor-float yesterday for the To Kuiti meeting. Manly did not accompany them. “C.C.”: Puwhcro was the only horse actually destroyed at the last Wanganui winter meeting, and Jockey Ernie. Warner was killed at that gathering.
