The first post office in Patea was erected in the early ’7o’s, Mr. Hutton being the first postmaster. The second post office was erected about 1880 and did service till 1923, when the present splendid building was erected. Twentyfive years ago there were less than 30 subscribers to the telephone exchange. To-day there are about 200.
