WRECK OF THE BRETAGNE
the vessel a TOTAL LOSS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, Oct. 12. The vessel Bretagne, bound for Samoa from San Francisco, is a total loss. It is assumed that the crew is safe. It -is thought that the mysterious SOS received by the Bluff radio station (Awarua) last night, was from the ill-fated vessel, . ........ ~..., .. The vessel is an auxiliary schooner of 1028 tons. She was abandoned by tho crew 15 miles south of the Umatilla lightship, when .the ship took a dangerous list.
