A special dumping clause is to be applied to foods entering Canada when the price is below the fair market price of the country producing them, the Customs Minister, the Hon. W. D. Euler, announces. It will become effective on October 15. Mr. Euler said that in the past there had been a leeway of 5 per cent, before the clause was invoked. It was expected to have a far-reaching effect m increasing the protection for Canadian producers. The clause applies only when the same class of goods is produced in Canada. The. regulation is still much less drastic than in the United States, and applies only to reductions up to 15 per cent, of the fair market value, whereas in the United States it goes to a 75 per cent, reduction.
