WHALING IN THE ANTARCTIC

WILLIAM SCORESBY’S ITINERARY. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Oct. 12, 12.12 a.m. Capetown, Oct. 11. Flying the Falkland Islands flag, William Seoresby left Simonstown last night for the South Shetlands in the Antarctic. Sir Hubert Wilkins will join him at Deception Harbour, where he has two seaplanes, with the object of locating shoals of whales and to explore the Antarctic eoast and possible whaling bases. Mr. Seoresby will be joined in 1930 by the Discovery 11. At present he will devote his attention to whalemarking by darts and sounding. Three hundred whales were marked off Africa.
