Objection to the present method of citing parties to the harvest hands’ and chafl'cutters’ award was taken by Mr. Herbert, the union representative, during a hearing at the Arbitration Court. Mr; Heibert said the citation of 10,660 employers individually was an enormous cost to the union and the Government. When approached the Premier had' referred them to the Secretary for Labour, who had suggested that the court might recommend a new method. The union thought tli’e lists might be printed with citations, deposited it post offices- and advertised in the respective districts. The present postage and registration of citations cost £566, and the cost of envelopes and labour was £1566. . ' Mr. Justice Fraser said it was a question of law for everyone to get a personal citation. He did not think the court could do anything. Mr. Cooksori, for the employers, stated a new method would be opposed by every employers’ organisation in the Dominion. . .
