BISHOP AND CHURCH FAIRS
AN EXPLANATION GIVEN. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hamilton, Last Night, Bishop Cherrington, in an interview with the Waikato Times, explained that in regard to his protest against sales of work for church funds, his reference to “robbing the poor” was simply a facetious allusion to the prices paid by generous purchasers. He had nothing but praise for the members of the ladies’ guilds. Thev were women who worked their fingers" to the bone in the service of the church.
