FARMERS’ USE OF RAILWAYS

OFFICIAL STRICTURES RESENTED. By Telegraph—Press Association Hamilton, Last Night. The Waikato Farmers’ Union to-day protested against the assertion in the railway statement of the general manager, Mr. H. H. Sterling, that farmers entirely ignore the advantages received from the policy of the railways and have deserted the national institution to accept a comparatively small advantage. Mr. R. H. Feist said the concessions to farmers came from the Agricultural Department and not from the railways. It was diegusting to see such remarks about farmers. Business people were the greatest transgressors in regard to' loyalty to the railways. The meeting resolved to send a strong letter of protest to the Minister.
