MUTUAL PREFERENCES DESIRED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Oct. 3, 7 p.m. London, Oct. 3. The National Union of Manufacturers passed a resolution at Manchester calling'on the Government to utilise the forthcoming economic cohference to promote inter-Empire trade by means of mutual preferences. Mr. George Terrell, the president, congratulated the Rt. Hon. J. 11. Thomas, Minister in charge of Employment on discovering the value of Imperial preference in Canada. He said he would not be surprised if the Labour Party to-morrow supported the safeguarding ■ duties.
