NORTH EGMONT AFFAIRS

TRAFFIC CONTROL SCHEME. REGULATIONS ON NEW ROAD. At the monthly meeting of the northern committee of the Egmont National Park Board there were present: Messrs. Gordon Fraser (chairman); J. S. Connett, R. Stuart, W. H. Moyes, W. R. Johns, J. W. Whitehead and F. H. Blundell. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. T. C. List, W. D. Armit, G. M. Spence and H. V. S. Griffiths. The chairman welcomed Mr. Blundell as the representative of the Automobile Association on the committee. A sub-committee was authorised to purchase a truck for repair work on the new tar-sealed road and for general use. The caretaker reported that the. new lodge at the gates w?ts almost finished and should be completed in a few days. Views on the question of traffic control on the road were submitted to the committee by the chairmen of the Tourist League, Automobile Association and Taxi Drivers’ Association. As a rosult a broad scheme was agreed to, a sub-committee being appointed to work out details, arrange for control at top and Bottom of the track, to draft suitable regulations and erect signs. - '• ' ' ’
