OBITUARY

MR. ROBERT BREMER.

NOTED WAVERLEY SHEEPBREEDER

The death occurred in Sydney yesterday of Mr. Robert Bremer, the wellknown Waverley sheepbreeder and grazier. In April last he suffered a breakdown in health and was subsequently an inmate of a New Plymouth private hospital for about three months, afterwards proceeding to Australia for recuperative purposes. Advice received only last week was. to the effect that he was making considerable improvement in health and would be returning to the Dominion soon. The late Mr. Bremer was born in South Australia 75 years ago, coming to New Zealand with his people as an infant. Tho family first settled in the Rangitikei district, Mr. Bremer subsequently taking up land in the Waverley district where he had resided ever since. The late Mr. Bremer was in the front rank of successful sheepbreeders, stock from his flocks of Lincolns, Romneys, English Leicester’s and Southdowns being much sought after by other breeders. He was much in request as a judge of sheep at innumerable A. and P. shows during the past 30 to 35 years, and advantage of his keen judgment and ripe experience in regard to stud sheep and other live stock was frequently sought and freely given. Tho late Mr. Bremer acted on various road boards and was for many years a member of the Patea County Council. He leaves a widow and two sons, Messrs. Purvis and Melvyn Bremer, who are engaged in the management of his stations. His three brothers, all prominent and successful farmers in South Taranaki, predeceased him. His three sisters, now on their way home from a visit to California, are Mrs. Harvey, Mrs. D. S. Taylor and Miss Bremer, all of Waverley.
