OWNER WAITS UPON COUNTY. r — Mr. W. Bransgrove waited on a meeting of the Taranaki County Council yesterday regarding the decision of the Magistrate’s Court in New Plymouth that a dwelling on his property, condemned as insanitary, should be demolished. Action in the case had been taken against Bransgrove by the Taranaki County Council. Ho had lodged an appeal against the decision of the magistrate, stated Mr. Bransgrove. but he was not anxious to. carry the thing further. If' the county agreed to that, he would enter into a bond that the building would be used for storage purposes only. Cr. Connett: You gave us that undertaking before. Mr. Bransgrove: I was not altogether to blame that it was broken. A returned soldier lived in the house. Cr. Connett: You tried to beat us over it. You broke ■ faith with us. And now you have already lodged an appeal. Mr. Bransgrove: It could be quashed. Cr. Thomas: We took action because the Health Department regulations were broken ? Cr. Connett: Yes. Mr. Bransgrove: The building will be so altered that it can never be used as a house again. The council had no objcctionMo Bransgrove using the building as a shed if. said Mr. Connett, it was used as a shed alone. On . the other hand that undertaking had been given before. The matter was left in the hands of the chairman and Cr. Wood.
