BUILDING OF NEW CITADEL.

Hastings, Sept. 2. Commissioner James Hay laid the foundation stone of the new army citadel on Saturday afternoon in the presence of a large crowd of Salvationists and the general public. In the course of an address emphasising the great work of the army, the Commissioner said the cost’ of the site and buildings was £5OOO, and £2590 was already in hand and promised, leaving a balance of £2410 still required. Yesterday the Commissioner addressed a large audience on the Salvation Army in New Zealand.
