ISLAND HOMESTEAD BLAZES
AVIATORS LEND VALUED AID.
CONFLAGRATION AT AUCKLAND.

Fire totally destroyed the 12-roomea two-storeyed homestead of Harold Bull on Puketutu Island, Manukau Harbour, this afternoon, the loss being estimated at about £5OOO. Mr. and Mrs. Bull were the only ones on the island when the tire broke out. They were in the garden at the time but managed to get a email quantity of furniture out of the house. This furniture was not placed far enough away, however, and as the fire progressed was ruined. . . Just when the fire was at its height Douglas Mill and a companion flying m & „■ Moth aeroplane sighted the outbreak an made a difficult landing on a paddocK ..ear the homestead.
