Lord Horne collapsed .and died while shooting with a party on his moor at r•Stirkoke, Caithneshire. It is recalled that Lord Horne was engaged in the war from the beginning to the end. He participated in the retreat from Mons, also in the last grand assau t. He accompanied Lord Kitchener to Gallipoli in 1915. He introduced what is know as “the creeping barrage. He leaves a daughter but no son.
