WAITARA NEWS
GENERAL PARAGRAPHS. With the objeet of socially bringing into touch the members and supporters of Waitara's chief sports, a meeting comprising football, hockey and rowing representatives met on Tuesday evening to discuss the project of instituting an annual combined ball It was decided to hold a ball on August 8. Mr. L. Byron was elected secretary and arrangements were made for a ladies committee. It was decided to run buses from New Plymouth and Urenui. The masters of ceremonies appointed were Messrs. L. Byron, 0. Keith and E. Tate. It is on the cards that a dramatic society will be formed in Waitara. A meeting of enthusiasts has already discussed the project and probably a public meeting will be called. At present the enthusiasts are rehearsing a show on August 28, the proceeds of which are being given towards the Druids’ Christmas tree. Recently the borough council has had erected concrete fire plug indicators, of these on Mauukorihi Hill has smashed to atoms.
