FINED AND LICENSE CANCELLED.
By Telegraph.—Press Association.
Invercargill, Last Night. Thomas Alexander Agnew was to-day convicted of having been intoxicated while in charge of a car. Tho Magistrate said that if accused would take out a prohibition order he would be fined £5 but if not he would be fined £25. -Accused’s current license would be cancelled and no license would be issued to him for the following year. Agnew appeared before justices of the peace on the same charge last week but the information was dismissed without prejudice on the grounds that the police had not proved the case through failing to call the person who advised them of accused’s condition.
Senior-Sergt. Fox explained to-day that the person who telephoned the police had not disclosed his or her name.
