TAUPO RAILWAY LETTER

COMPLAINT MADE IN HOUSE. . (By Wire.—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. Complaint that the Prime Minister had not been fair to Mr. J. G. Coates in reading Mr. Vaile’s letter on Tuesday night with reference to the Taupo railway was made by Mr. D. Jones (MidCanterbury) in the House of Representatives to-day. Mr. Jones said that attached to the latter was a memorandum stating that no reply had ever been sent to Mr. Vaile. Sir Joseph Ward: A reply was' sent. Mr, Coates: No, it was drafted. Sir Joseph: Pardon mo, it is on the file; I had it here last night.

Mr. Jones: I am informed that a reply was drafted but was never sent. Sir Joseph: It was sent.

Mr. Jones: If it was sent the Prime Minister will have a chance of reading it to the House.
