EXPEDITING ERECTION OF LINE.
WORK TO BEGIN IN THREE "WEEKS
(By Wire—Special to News.) Wellington, Last Night. In connection with the erection of the first section of the high tension line from the New Plymouth Borough Council’s powerhouse to Midhirst, and in reply to his representations that the erection of the line should be expedited, Mr. S. G. Smith, M.P., has been advised by the Chief Electrical Engineer that there are 225 poles on order. Of these poles 56 have arrived, another 35 have just left Australia,’ and the remainder are leaving Australia all the end of the month. If they all come to hand as they should the commencement of the erection of the line will be in. about a fortnight or three weeks’ time.
AU the other material is on hand, with tho exception of the poles. The gangs are ready and the equipment is aIP on hand.
