RETURNS FROM FACTORIES.

companies operating in this districtfor the 1928-29 season w as .£409,677 2s,'4d.',‘ Northern Wairoa manufactured 2209.20 • tons of butter and paid £309,496 10s id. This company has 670 suppliers. Ruawai, which paid £100,160 12s 3d, manufactured 717 < tons of butter. The factpry has 163 suppliers. The average payment by the Northern. Wairoa company was 18.90 d per lb and by the Ruawai IS.old, per lb. During its 27 years’ existence Northern Wairoa has paid to suppliers £2,983,630 17s and manufactured 22,042.72 tons of butter. The Ruawai company has been going only 15 years and the land 20 years ago from which the supply comes was practically an undrained swamp. This season has opened w.ell, both factories showing an increase for the first month of the season ended June 30,
