GREENLAND EXPLORERS
OLD ESKIMO SETTLEMENTS. A telegram received from the settlement at Scoresby Sound, East Greenland, founded in 1924, states that a large tract of ice-free country has been found at the head of Nordvest Fiord, with many remains of former Eskimo habitations. This region is uncommonly rich in fauna, especially foxes, musk ox and bears. Experts here are extremely interested in this news, notably Dr. Lange Koch. The discovery of old Eskimo settlements should throw light on the history.of Eskimo migrations. A Danish zoologist, ,M. Alwin Pedersen, went out to Scoresby Sound some time ago, to make investigations into the fauna of the region. Evidence had already been obtained, notably by Dr. Lauge Koch, of former Eskimo settlements in this part of Eastern Greenland, were both Danes end Norwegians have meteorological and fishing stations.
