FALSE STATEMENT MADE
PENSIONER ADMITS GUILT.

James Whitelaw Ramsay pleaded guilty to making a false statement under the Pensions Act. The police stated that accused was a disabled soldier drawing a pension. He was also a superannuated servant in the Railway Department, a fact which he failed’ to disclose to the pensions authorities. This would involve the restitution of about £6OO.
Counsel said accused did not realise he was liable to disclose what he received from the Railway Department, which he thought was a refund of money.
The case was adjourned to consider the possibility of restitution.
