Mrs. J. Gray, Kaponga, was hostess at tea on Tuesday afternoon. Those present were: Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. Carter, Airs, Syme, Airs. J. P. Stewart, Airs. Douglas (Mangatoki), Airs. Crump, Airs. Tiplady, Airs. AlcGregor, Mrs. Hair and Airs. A. J. Bennett (Alanaia).

Airs. A. Chrystal was hostess at bridge on Alonday afternoon. The room was artistically decorated with jayonica and spring flowers. The hostess received her guests wearing a smart frock of Princess Alary blue satin with brilliant ornaments. The first prize was won by Aliss Fannin (Hastings), Airs, J. L. Weir being the winner of the dainty consolation prize, A delicious tea was served to the accompaniment of music by Paul Robeson, and the popular artists of the moment in the gramophone world. Those present were Airs, Cooper, ’Airs. Carter, Airs. Weir, Airs. AlcGregor, Airs. Weir, junr., Airs. Campbell, Airs. Crawford, Airs. Tiplady, Airs. Fitzgerald, Airs. Wylds and Aliss Fannin.

Hunt, black panne velvet and tulle; Aliss B. Cartwright, blue georgette; Airs. J. Bert, flame georgette.

Aliss AlcCoy, of Rakaia, who is touring the North Island, is at present the guest of Airs, F. C. Babbage, Rotokare, Eltham.

The monthly meeting of the Eltham branch of the women’s division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Mayor’s room last Saturday when, in addition to the ordinary business, instruction in home nursin' was given by Nurse Ingles. Considerable interest was taken in the address, which proved very instructive and dealt among other subjects with children’s ailments and how' to treat them—affections of the ears, throat and eyes, bandaging and temperatures.
