NEW PLYMOUTH AERO CLUB
.MEETING OK THE COMMITTEE. At a meeting of the New Plymouth Aero Club committee last night the question of preparing the landing ground was discussed. The following members of the executive were present: Messrs E. King (chairman), A. F. Sanford, M. Derby, J. Warnock, C. Clarke, C. Hannan, P. J. Flannagan, G. Kibby and ■S. E. Nielson (secretary). Apologies were received for the absenca of Mr. G. M. Spence. A letter from the New South Wales Aero Club was read, congratulating the New Plymouth‘Club on the success of its first year. It was agreed, that a large white circle be painted on the roof of the hangar to act as a guide to pilots. After a lengthy discussion it was decided that the portion of the field at present used as. a landing ground should be left, but that., the 2G acres surrounding this, which is shaped like an L, should be ploughed immediately and sown in oats. Later this area could be ploughed again to laydown in permanent grass. Efforts are to be made to use voluntary labour as much as possible, and for this purpose a sub-committee was appointed to approach those people who had agreed to give assistance. Mr. Spence was deputed to arrange au agreement between the Aero Club and Taranaki Airways, Ltd., with regard to the use of the company’s plane.
