STRATFORD FACTORY PROGRESS'. BUTTER DIVERTED TO MIDIHRST. The butter factory at Stratford had been so damaged by lire that re-build-ing had become necessary. Proposals concerning rebuilding had already been placed before suppliers and every effort was being made to expedite building operations, states the annual report to be submitted to the thirty-fifth annual meeting of the Stratofrd Farmers’ Cooperative Association, Ltd. (Stratford dairy factory), on Monday. The total whey butter made was 32 tons 2cwt., creamery butter made 723 tons scwt.; cheese made, 1463 tons IS cwt.; casein, nitrogen in curd received, 19,6481b5.; number of suppliers, 420. The increase of butter was 52 tons, and of cheese 131 tons. Stock of butter and cheese had been valued at Is 3d per lb. for butter and 7%d per lb. for cheese. These were conservative estimates and should be exceeded on realisation. On the butter working account suppliers had been advanced 16.29 d per lb. butter-fat for year, while on the cheese working account suppliers had been advanced 17.28 d per lb. butter-fat. Suppliers had been advanced 2d - per lb. butter-fat over the whole period of manufacture on the casein -working account. Further payments to suppliers would be made in respect of supply for butter and cheese as soon as stocks were realised and proceeds received. Final accounts had not yet been received from the casein company.

While the butter factory was being re-built the Midhirst Dairy Company had undertaken the manufacture of butter for the .Stratford factory. The directors desired to express appreciation of the assistance thus rendered.

The Skinner Road creamery and casein rooms were benig added to and should be ready for the new season’s supply. The retiring directors were Messrs. J. B. Richards, M. Gernhoefer and R. D. An excellent attendance was again a notable feature of the Catholic euchre party held on Tuesday night. Mesdames Tunbridge and Elgar took the women’s first and second prizes, Messrs. Kovalewski and Ryan taking the honours of the men’s play. The function was the last of the first series and the points prizes were won by Mrs. C. Smith and Mr. G. .McDonald. Supper was suplicd by the ladies’ committee.

The earthquake relief fund ball organised by the West Coast committee will be held in the Stratford town hall to-night.

By advertisement in this Issue C. W. Ansford, Taranaki distributor for Nash cars, announces that the new Nash, with twin ignition, will be on view in New Plymouth to-morrow (Friday).

An amateur tug-of-war tournament will be held in the Lowgarth hall next Tuesday and Wednesday nights. On the final night there will be two pulls and a dance, with Suit’s orchestra to supply the music.

The Soccer team to represent Egmont United v. Albion at Stratford on Saturday will be selected from Gibbs, Wright, Ma thews, Verney, Dudding, Clark, Glass, O’Shaughnessy, Miller, Lawrence, Hood, Harkness, Howard and Harkness.
