REPARATIONS AGREEMENT
FRENCH CHAMBER- DIVISION. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Times Cable. • London, July 16. The Paris correspondent of The Times states that, making it a question of confidence, the Government won the first division on the reparations agreement proposals in the Chamber of Deputies by 304 votes to 239. M. Poincare concluded a long speech in the Chamber of Deputies on the debt agreement with the following appeal:— “Let us pay ten milliards of francs to America on August 1. Let us not expose ourselves to provoking further demands from Britain. Let us ratify the agreements which other Powers have already ratified.” He added: “If it is desired, let there be prudent and frank reservations, giving this or another Cabinet the necessary power to defend at an international conference the cause of Franco and peace, which are more than ever inseparable.”
