ALLEGED TO BE GYPSIES
PERMISSION TO LAND REFUSED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The Xury family, which arrived from Honolulu by the Niagara, was refused by the Immigration Department temporary permits to land in New Zealand, and the party continued the journey on the Niagara to Sydney to-night. One woman member of the party was suffering from gastritis, but on the ground that she did not wish to leave her children she refused the offer to be allowed to land for medical attention. Peter Xury, head of the family, denied the statement that he and tlie family are Gypsies and claimed they were American citizens.
