SINGAPORE NAVAL BASE
COSTS OF ABANDONMENT f. LOSSES OF FOUR MILLIONS DECISION MAY BE DELAYED yjy Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Australian Press Association. Received July 16, 8.45 p.m. London, July 15. A memorandum prepared for Cabinet concerning Singapore shows that the cancellation of contracts will involve between three and four million pounds in compensation and other losses, says the Daily Chronicle’s political correspondent. Another complication arises from the tact that out. of the £858,872 expended so far, plus £971,492 for the floating dock, only £200,000 has been paid by Great Britain,* the remainder being provided by New Zealand, Australia and Malaya. It is more than likely that a decision will be deferred pending the naval conversations.
