SOLICITOR’S DOWNFALL
MLS APPROPRIATION ADMITTED.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Raymond Bradford Purser, aged 28, an ex-solicitor, was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence on nine charges of failing to account for various sums totalling about £7(10. Evidence was given regarding payments in property transactions for a client named David Ross, a retired farmer, accused misappropriating various amounts. Counsel, in asking that bail be allowed, admitted it was unusual to ask for bail in such cases. However, Purser had given himself up to the police at a time when there was every likelihood of a settlement being effected, and another reason why counsel asked forbail was that Purser wished to help with the adjustment of his accounts. The magistrate (Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.) allowed bail in one surety of £lOOO. .
