WHITELEY CHURCH CHOIR

MEMBERS' AXNt'AL .11KKTISC. The annual meeting of the choir of Whiteley Alemorial Church was held on Thursday everting, the Rev. Clarence Eaton presiding over a good attendance. The secretary (Alias F. Sutherland) presented the annual report, which showed a decrease of four in the membership of the choir during the year. The general work of the choir had been maintained at a very high standard, and an amount of extra work had been done for special occasions at Easter and Christmas, and in connection with the annual flower show. The. choir had the honour of being- the first to broadcast a programme from 2YB New Plymouth, and appreciative references had been made on that occasion from many parts of the Dominion, and from as far away as Australia.

The statement of receipts and expenditure showed the total receipts to have been £l4 9a 7d, and the credit balance to be £7 10s. The members’ subscriptions amounted to £5 3s Od. The chairman congratulated the choir ■on its position. He expressed his personal appreciation of the work of the choir, and that of the congregation. He paid a tribute to the conductor for his work and to the organist for his fidelity. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted:— Secretary, Miss F. Sutherland; ticasurer. Miss M. Abraham; librarian, Miss M. Sedgwick; hymn board steward, Mr. A. Bamshaw;' committee, Miss I. Sutherland, Mrs. Bamshaw, Messrs V. C. Stephens and C. Head. Mr. G. 11. White, organist, reporter, that 37 different anthems had 'been sung, 19 of which had been used on only one occasion. . A vote of appreciation of the work of the conductor was recorded, and votes of thanks were passed to the officers, special mention being made of the work of the organist, secretary, treasurer and librarian. , , ~ ~ In acknowledging the vote to himself the conductor (Mr. B. L. Cooper) thanked the officers for their work and the members for their support and regular attendance at services and rehearsals.
