Marenda:, driving a Straight Eight Graham-Paige Saloon, W at Brooklands broke the Internationa! Class B Records for 200 Kilometers and 200 miles with an average speeds of 76.97 m.p.h. and 77.77 m.p.h. respectively. The foil significance of this achievement will be appreciated when it is realised that the car was an absolutely standard 5-seater Saloon without any special tuning up except new valve springs and plugs arid carried its full equipment including bumpers, head lamps, two spare wheels and tyres, luggage grid, etc.Yet for 73 laps the Graham-Paige Saloon raced round Brooklands at between 78 and 81 miles an hour, with never a falter, never a hitch, and completed the 200 miles in 2 hours 34 minutes 17.72 seconds, the average for the last lap being 80.33 m.p.h.
