DISQUALIFICATION ENDS

HECTOR GRAY’S POSITION

LICENSE ANOTHER MATTER.

DECISIONS OF CONFERENCE.

Ry Telegraph.—Press AssociationWellington, July 12. The Racing Conference met to-day. Sir George Clifford was absent and Mr. 0. S. Watkins presided. . Hector Gray applied to have his disqualification removed. _ After ft long discussion the application was grantee. One speaker pointed out that the question of a license was a matter for further consideration. There was only one dissension. _ f The conference refused permission to broadcast bv wireless racing results. The chief stipendiary steward’s report commended the high standard of race meetings, but emphasised the fact that unruly and vicious horses still required more rigorous handling by starters. The report also requested the more universal adoption of satisfactory weighing apparatus. There were continued inaccuracies in the compilation of race-cards. The conduct of trainers and jockeys had been more than equal to the standard of past seasons. There appeared to be a lack of instruction imparted to the younger riders to enable their attaining proficiency and competency requisite for their calling. Tho Birchwood Hunt Olub, Ashburton Racing Club, Bay of Island Jockey Club and the South Canterbury Racing Club were granted permission to include trotting events in their programmes. The application of C. C. Murphy, Auckland, for the removal of his disqualification was refused. Tho two available licenses and days of racing were granted to Whangarcifor April 3, and to Taumarunui for a date to ho applied for. With regard to horses taken out of New Zealand and brought back, it was decided that no horse should race until the owner had lodged with tho secretary of the conference the original New Zealand Stud Book certificate, or the certificate of pedigree issued with such horse, with a certificate of identity on tho back; also, that a certificate of identification, signed by a New Zealand veterinary surgeon who had examined the horse after its return, should be lodged. . An amendment was passed regarding tho obligations on owners for the ownership of horses two years old and upward, providing for a flue of £2O or disqualification for failure to comply with tho rule.

A remit by Dunedin giving a tralncrjockey the right to ride either of his horses, of two bracketed, was passed.
