LADIES’ GOLF CHALLENGE

STRATFORD holds taflin cup.

A team of New Plymouth lady golfers visited Stratford yesterday to play a challenge match for the Taplin Cup. The match was all square at the conclusion, so that the Stratford Club retained the trophy. The results were as follow, the first six players comprising the cup team (Stratford players being mentioned first): — Mrs. Curtis lost to Mrs. Nicholson, 2 up and 1 to play. Mrs. Boon defeated Miss Horner, 7 and 6. Miss J. Sangstor defeated Mrs. Wyatt, 2 up. Mrs. Fryday lost to Miss Home, 4 and 3. Mrs. R. Curtis defeated Miss Smart, 2 up. Mrs. Bishop lost to Miss Christoffel. 3 arid 1. A four-ball best ball match was played by the remainder of the teams, the results being:— Miss Porrittt and Mrs. Knewstubb lost to Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Wilson, 3 and 1. Mrs. Glasgow and Mrs. Budge defeated Miss Cameron and Miss Hawes. 2 up. Mrs. Lyons and Miss Penn lost to Mrs. Rae* and Miss H. Wilson, 3 and 1 'Miss North defeated Miss Blundell, 2 up. The ladies’ medal match played at Waiwakaiho yesterday was won in the senior division by Miss Gavin, 95—16— 79, and in the juniors by Miss Rennell, 165—28—77.
