SKELETON KEYS SEIZED

ANOTHER ELTHAM ARREST BREAKING AND ENTERING CHARGE REMAND GRANTED; BAIL REFUSED A bunch of skeleton keys, allegedly used in thefts and burglaries, was said to have been found by Detective Meiklejohn in the possession of an Eltham man, aged 22, arrested at 2 p.m. on Monday. This is said to be the second bunch of skeleton keys seized by the police from suspected burglars in Eltham in the past two days. Breaking and entering the shop premises’ of Eva Brewer at Kaponga and stealing goods worth £lO was the charge against the young man in the Eltham Court yesterday, before Mr. J. M. Stubbs, J.P. A further charge was that of being found unlawfully in the possession of house-breaking instruments —skeleton keys. The name of accused was suppressed. Bail, asked for bv Mr. A. Chrystal for accused, was refused. The police, said Constable Townsend, objected to bail, for it was claimed that the present accused was connected in the series of crimes with the two youths charged at Eltham on Monday. A remand was granted until July 10 at Eltham, the justice intimating that he would treat the present case on the same lines as the former ones. Bail was refused. A gang had evidently been at work, said Constable Townsend.
