REPRESENTATIVE HOCKEY

NORDON OUP MATCHES. VISIT OF AUSTRALIAN TEAM. Since losing the Nordon Cup in 1926 the Taranaki hockey representatives have on three successive occasions gone very close to regaining it, each match resulting in a draw, hr 1927 they visited the Wairarapa and drew 4 all. In 1928 they challenged the then holders, Dannevirke, the match resulting in a threepoint draw. Last week Taranaki went to Danuevirke again seeking the coveted trophy but the match again resulted in a draw, each side scoring one goal. The visit of the Australian hockey team to Eltham, where it will meet Taranaki on July 25, is being looked forward to with the liveliest interest. Special preparations are being made to ensure that Taumata Park is in good order. The Taranaki team is in active training and with the combination gained by the Nordon Cup match should keep the visitors busy.
