POLISH JEWS ARRESTED

ALLEGATION OF ABSCONDING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, July 6. Further details were given in the Magistrate’s Court to-day with regard to Joseph Peliks and Josep Crawcow, Polish Jews, charged with absconding from Australia with a view to avoiding their debts. The chief detective produced a cable from Melbourne stating that their debts totalled £l5OO and that the general conduct of accused indicated systematic fraud. The magistrate, Mr. Page, said accused were arrested as fugitive offenders and it would appear they would have to be sent back to Australia under escort. On the facts at present he was not prepared to admit them to bail.
