SYNOD AND A SMOKE.CONCERT.
PROTEST REJECTED BY MAJORITY# (By Wire. —Special Reporter.) Hamilton, Last Niglit. . Objection to the proposal to transact only two nours’ business at the Waikato diocesan synod to-day .. was taken by Mr. G. W. Seton .(Putaruru). Mr. Seton on being informed; th.it synod would sit neither this morning nor this evening, said about 70 synodsmen would have to “cool their heels’’ practically /all day. This was a serious mattery especially for, laymen who had to return to'their businesses. ■ He>protested strongly at a smoko concert being arranged for this evening, a tiiiie when a largo amount of business could well be.(finalised. i The bishop said the Waikato synod «at in less time than any synod in the Dominion. Mr. E. A. Bruce (Te .Arolia) said ho understood the bulk b'f, th© Taranaki members .would depart on Friday morning. The bishop: None of them may leave without my permission. 1 ." “It has been said our synods are too dry,” said Canon J. L. A.
