BODY FOUND IN WILBERFORCE

THOUGHT TO BE MISSING BOY.

By Telegraph.—Press Association.

Christchurch, Jan. 28.

A body, believed to be that of James Park, one of the two boys lost in the Alps at Browning’s Pass on January 10, was found yesterday in the Wilberforce, near Lake Coleridge. Searchers are now trying to locate the other body.

ENDEAVOUR MADE TO FORD RIVER.

BROTHER'S ACCOUNT AT INQUEST.

Christchurch, Last Night.

An inquest was held at Coalgate today into the death of James Park, one of the boys lost in the Alps, by Mr. P. H. Lawry, S.M. The chief witness was Edward Leigh Park, brother of the dead lad, who gave a complete account of the search for James and his companion Morpeth. Witness expressed the opinion that on or about January 10 his brother and Morpeth were swept away and drowned when endeavouring to ford the Wilberforce River.

The coroner gave a verdiet of accidental death by drowning in the Wilberforce River on or about January 10.

The search for Morpeth’s body will be continued shortly, as soon as shearing is over. Mr. Murchison, Glcnthorn station, will arrange a party to search all the route the trampers must have trav-' ersed. It is now certain from signs found that the boys attempted to cross one of the tributaries of the Wilberforce. Whether cue was swept off his feet and carried away and the other was lost in attempting to save him will never be known. The rivers were in high flood after two days’ rain and very dangerous.
