Mrs. A. K. Fyson is spending a few days with Mrs. Jack Winter, Inglewood.

Goodson and Misses Eileen and Kathleen Goodson, of Hawera, who have been holiday making in Australia for the past two months, left Sydney on the homeward journey yesterday. Williams was hostess at a very pleasant afternoon in honour of the Misses Seed, of Wellington, when the guests were the Misses Seed (2), Mrs. F. W. Sutton, Mrs. Lysaght, Mrs. Arthur Coleman, Mrs. Woodward and Mrs. Meredith. Mrs. H. Swinburne entertained at bridge on Thursday evening, when among those present were Mrs. Syme and Miss Phyllis Syme, Mrs. W. G. Walkley, Mrs. Chuck, Miss Mil. Green and Miss Bell. The hostess wore a pretty frock of orange chenille georgette finished with a buckle of diamante. In the bridge room large vases of orange coloured azaleas and bowls of night scented stock were the decorations, while in the dining room, in which supper was served, were choice tulips in tones of red and amber and flowering shrubs. * * * * The Kiwi Ladies’ Lodge held their second birthday dance in the Savoy dancing room on Tuesday evening, when there were present about one hundred couples. A special feature of the evening was the number of novelties introduced in the ■way of paper hats, grasshoppers, streamers, confetti, etc., and when the evening came to a close all were loth to leave, so enjoyable had it been. The birthday cake, which had the place of honour at supper, was cut with all due ceremony by the Noble Grand, Miss M. Walker. The waltzing competition was won by Mies Olliver and Mr. Hunt, and the spot waltz by Miss Zelda Spragg and Mr. Forster. In the Monte Carlo dance the winners were Miss Dick and Mr. Rurie. The members of the committee responsible for the splendid success were Misses G. Rawcliffe, Gladys Duke, M. Evans, M. Walker, Lorenna Spragg, H. Hazeltine and H. Squire.
