An amazing story of a doomed man’s gamble for life is revealed by Dr. Sniker, of the Latvian Leprosy Institute, w’ho obtained the consent of the authorities to . experiment in innoculation upon a criminal named Kirstein, who is at present under sentence of death. Dr. Sniker contends that leprosy is not contagious and’ is curable. He will inject matter from a living leper into Kirstein, who has consented on a promise that his sentence will be remitted, though he will have to remain in gaol.
