The spring race meeting was concludcd at Randwick on Saturday in weather. The track was in good order and tile attendance 45,000. 'Die racing lacked the interest of the previous three days of the meeting due to the absence of many high-class performers. Limerick’s withdrawal from the Randwick Plate disappointed large numbers of racegoers, who were anxious to see the contest between the New Zealander and Winalot. Bacchus created a surprise by his narrow defeat of Winalot in the Randwick Plate, while Ramulus, who went out favourite in the Clibborn Stakes, completely outclassed the opposition. CANNONBURV STAKES. £lOOO added. One mile and a quarter. COMACIIE. 8.5 1 PAY PAIX, 8.0 H REGAL D'OR, 8.5 3 Sixteen started. Pay Paix was first away from Accepted, Gladioli and Lady Woodville. Turning for home Pay Paix was in charge ahead of Shekels, Gladioli, Lady Woodville. Regal D’Or was finishing"fast when Commache challenged the leaders and gained the verdict by one and a half lengths. Time, Imin. 21 sec. WA VERLEY H ANDICAP. £lOOO added. Fondant quickly ran to the front and took the role of pacemaker from Nan Kourgan, Sunflare and Octember running in that order. At the half-mile The Pied Piper moved behind Fondant from Nan Kourgan, Octember and Sunflare. Fondant led into the straight from The Pied Piper and Octember and gained the verdict by three-quarters of a length. Time, 3min. Isec. (HESTER HANDICAP. £lOOO added. Six furlongs. BONNIE MARJORIE, 8.3 1 VIOLIAN, 9.11 2 GOLDEN VOICE, 9.3 3 Fourteen started. A’iolian was first away from Whitta, Good Stead and King's Arms. Passing the half-mile Whitta had charge ahead of Remora, Golden Voice and Violian. Violian took charge at the distance from Golden Voice, with Bonnie Marjorie finishing fast. The latter came up-in time to snatch victory by half a head. Time, Imin. 13Jsee. DOWLING STEEPLECHASE. £750 added. About three miles. GREY KNIGHT, 9.10 1 MAILMAN, 10.0 2 GUNLIKE, 9.0 3 Seven started. Chandonia and Nameerah led over the first jump from Mendit, Flipbern and Grey Knight. Racing away from the field Chandonia and Nameerah established a forty lengths’ lead at the foot of the hill. The last time round Chandonia lost its rider. At the next jump a similar fate overcame Nameerah, leaving Grey Knight and Mailman to fight out the finish. Grey Knight prevailed by four lengths. Commencing at a slow pace, Spearfelt led the field from Winalot, Valamita, Jocelyn and Bacchus. They continued in that order up the straight, where Winalot assumed control from Spearfelt, Jocelyn, Valamita and Bacchus. Bacchus challenged the leader at the distance, and in a close finish gained the verdict by a head. Time, 3min. 27 t CLIBBORN STAKES. Of £l5OO. Ono mile. RAMULUS, 8.7 1 SOLITAS. 8.12 2 SIR CHRISTOPHER, 8.4 3 Also started—Coercion and Vertoy. Sir Christopher acted as pacemaker from Ramulus, Coercion and Solitas. Turning for home Ramulus joined Sir Christopher ahead of Coercion and Solitas. Ramulus took charge at the distance and won with ease by two lengths. Time, Imin. 38Jeec. FINAL HANDICAP. £lOOO added. One mile and a quarter SPRUIKER, 8.9 1 GALADEER, 8.0 2 DOLOMITE, 7.3 3 Eleven started. Dolomite led throughout to the distance, followed by Vallino, Sallie Blue, Spruiker, Magdaff and Galadeer. Spruiker took charge at the distance and won comfortably by two lengths. Time, 2min. Ofsee.
