HALLOWE’EN DANCE TO BE HELD. Arrangements for the celebration of Hallowe’en were discussed by the New Plymouth Caledonian Society at a meeting of the executive held on Saturday evening, at which there were present: Messrs. W. W. Thomson (chief), R. Bennoch, A. Rankin, A. S. Kirkland, J. Findlay, G. Fluker, J. G. Williamson, A. M. Mac Diarmid and M. G. Nasmith (bon. sec.). The festival of Hallowe’en being an old-time Scottish night when the vritches hold carnival, tho executive decided that the celebration take the form of a plain and fancy dress masquerade dance. Masks are to be optional but will be appropriate to the occasion. Tho dance will be in St. Mary’s Hall on October 30.

The secretary submitted the annual report and balance-sheet, which were approved for submission to the annual meeting of the society to be held on Saturday, November 10, in the Workers’ Social Hill. An honorarium was voted to the secretary for his past year’s work, and it was also decided to procure a typewriter for the purposes of the society. Collectors were appointed for the next band recital of tho pipe band. The chief, W. W. Thomson, expressed his thanks for the courtesy extended to him during his term of office, stating that the executive worked very harmoniously together, and hoped . that the sceiety would make still further strides under the guidance of his successor.
