AlcGarry’s trophy was won by Airs. J. D. AlcKay. The Sylvia Cup, which resulted in a tie between Mrs H. Wills and Miss Wanklyn, was played over the week-end and won by Aliss Wanklyn. *\* * * Aliss L. Parrott, who has been on the staff of the Eltham School for some years, left for her new appointment at Ngaruawahia on Thursday. Before leaving the school Aliss Parrott was presented with a manicure set from the staff, and a perfume bottle from her old pupils. >** * « Airs. A. Tiplatly has returned 'from ; Wellington. '-i st * • * A pleasing ceremony took place in the Methodist Hall last Saturday afternoon, when Commissioner Steven, of tho Girl Guides, enrolled and swore in several new Brownies. The Girl Guides were in charge of Captain Baxter and the Brownies in charge of Lieuts. Gower and Thompson. A dainty afternoon tea was provided by the Girl Guide pommittee. # # • Airs. Clifford James was the guest of Mrs. W. W. Avery during the week. Mrs. T. B. Crump was hostess on Wednesday faternoon. Among those present were Lady Carneross, Mrs. R. H. Gover, Airs. D. Alac'Gregor, Airs) G. Fitzgerald, Airs. Hardwick-Smith, Airs. L. Reeves and Aliss Belcher. ft * ft # The Alisses Wilson were hostesses at a very enjoyable gift afternoon last Friday as a farewell to Miss Connell, who is leaving shortly for Rangoon. Those present were Miss Connell, Mrs. and Miss Rogers, Airs, and Miss Syme, Mrs. Crump, Mrs. Hardwick-Smith, Airs. L. Reeves, Airs. J. Quin, Airs. Connell, Mrs. and Aliss Wylds, Airs, L.
