FOR SOCIAL BETTERMENT

Reform, while admitting the virtues of such an objective, was firmly convinced that no permanent betterment could be achieved unless it be firmly based upon sound finance, sound not only from New Zealand’s viewpoint but the Empire’s and all countries with which we must trade. Sound finance was the first plank in the party's platform.
