SYDNEY STREET FRACAS

ONE MAN GRAVELY WOUNDED VENDETTA OF THE UNDERWORLD VICTIM MAINTAINS SILENCE. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. A. and N.Z. Sydney, March 15. Following a serious gun fight, believed to have been the result of an underworld vendetta, Norman McDonald was taken to hospital in a grave condition, shot in the abdomen. He refuses to give the police any information as to his assailants. The police have definite evidence that another man must have been seriously wounded, but have failed to locate him. When last seen he was with several men who had him on the floor of the hallway in a house in Foveaux Street in the city and were kicking him viciously. A* fracas occurred at the Elizabeth Street entrance to the central railway station. A constable in plain clothes endeavoured to assist the wounded man, but was driven off by a fusilade of shots and sought assistance. Two arrests were effected.
