EARL HAIG’S OBSEQUIES
HUGE EDINBURGH ATTENDANCE. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. A. and N.Z. London, Feb. 5. It is estimated that 150,G00 men and women passed through Saint Giles’ Cathedral on Saturday. The lying in state of Earl Haig continues on Sunday afternoon and throughout Monday. Mr. F. K. Keilberg, a Dane, whose wife is English, sent £lO,OOO to the British. Legion appeal fund in appreciation of the services of Earl Haig and his armies in helping Denmark to recover the Danish portion of Schleswig. Received Feb. 6, 9.50 p.m. A. and N.Z. London, Feb. 6. There were pulpit tributes to the late Earl Haig throughout the country yesterday. People all day were passing the coffin as it lay in St. Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh at the rate of 2000 an hour. Services were curtailed and the Cathedral kept open until ten o’clock in the evening to enable the great crowd to pass. Lady Haig was only able yesterday to break the news of his father’s death to her son, who has been ill, suffering from appendicitis.
