VESSEL FROM MOROCCO

DIRECT WITH PHOSPHATES. With a cargo of 3300 tons of phosphates for discharge, the steamer Kintyre arrived at New Plymouth yesterday afternoon direct from Casa Blanca, Morocco. This is the first time a cargo of phosphates has come to New Plymouth from Morocco. The Kintyre left Morocco on December 19 and arrived at Colon on January 7. A West Indian hurricane w-as encountered which necessitated the vessel being hove to. The starboard ventilator was carried away, but apart from that uo damage was done, although many a sea was shipped. Balboa was cleared on January 8, and until last Saturday heavy rain was met with. The Kintyre was last in New Zealand waters in 1925, when she visited Auckland. Since then she has been running between South America, South Africa and England. The vessel is commanded by Captain D. A. Addison, who is accompanied by his wife. The other officers arc:—« Chief, Mr. R. B. Bain; second, Mr. J- G. Finlay; third, Mr. J. O. Bowie; chief engineer, Mr. T. H. Gibson; second, Mr, G. Bowen; third, Mr. J. Pringle; fourth, Mr. G. McLean. There are three apprentices aboard, Messrs. G. C. Ygung, J. A. Stewart and R. H. Walford. The Kintyre is a vessel of 4937 tons gross. Her length is 400 feet and her breadth 52 feet. When berthed at the Moturoa. wharf yesterday evening she was drawing 22ft 3in forward and 24ft 4in aft. She will leave New Plymouth early next week for Wanganui to put out the balance of her cargo.
